A round-up of the latest private markets people moves globally
Canadian pension fund OMERS has announced changes to its investment leadership structure, with Michael Hill appointed Global Head of Infrastructure and Private Equity, and Scott McIntosh becoming Global Head of Equities and Multi-Asset Strategies. Alexander Fraser will continue to lead the private equity business, with Michael Block taking on an expanded private capital mandate.
Canada-based insurer Munich Re has appointed Michael Correa as President and CEO of its Canada Life business, effective September 1. He succeeds Bernard Naumann, who will lead Munich Re’s Life and Health business in Europe and Latin America from next January. Correa joined Munich Re in 2016 and is currently Senior Vice President for Reinsurance Solutions.
Julius Bär, a wealth manager based in Switzerland, has appointed Peter Burrill as CFO and member of its executive board, effective August 17. Burrill joins from Standard Chartered, where he most recently served as Interim Group CFO, and previously held roles at Deutsche Bank and KPMG.
US-based asset manager and OCIO provider TIFF Investment Management has appointed Andrew Murray as Managing Director, Head of Secondary Investing, and Stephen Grau as Executive Director, Secondary Investing. Murray previously helped build and lead secondary investment efforts at Mill Creek Capital Advisors, while Grau has spent the past seven years on global secondary advisory teams at Lazard and Jefferies.
The National Fire Protection Association, a US-based foundation, has elected John Bonney as Board Chair, succeeding Dave Paulison. Bonney has served on the board since 2015 and most recently served as First Vice Chair. He will work with the executive leadership team and board members to advance the association’s global mission for fire, electrical, and life safety.
Hong Kong-based corporate investor DFI Retail Group has reshuffled its leadership team, effective August 1. Andrew Wong has been appointed CEO of DFI IKEA, while Curtis Liu will becomeCEO, Health and Beauty. Tom van der Lee will step into the role of CEO, Food, and Kaizhi Wu has been promoted to Group CFO.
Europe-focused fund of funds manager SWEN Capital Partners has appointed Alice Sireyjol as Director of Sustainable Finance and a member of its executive committee. Sireyjol joins from Amundi, where she was Deputy Head of Responsible Investment Development, and also brings experience from EY, PwC, and S&P Trucost.
Global asset manager LGT Capital Partners has appointed Kazushige Kobayashi as Country Head of Japan. Kobayashi joins after roles at Alternative Investment Capital, Capital Dynamics, Rhône Group, and MCP Asset Management. He will support LGT’s growth in Japan and strengthen relationships with institutional investors and business partners.
North America-focused private equity firm FTV Capital has appointed Scott Levine as Managing Director of Strategic Business Development. In the newly created role, Levine will oversee the firm’s Global Partner Network and broader business development platform. He previously led corporate development and M&A initiatives at Amazon Web Services, and has also worked at Samsung, Time Warner, Sony Music Entertainment, and General Atlantic.
European asset manager Amundi has appointed Petra Salesny as CEO of Amundi Alpha Associates, its private markets multi-management platform. Salesny will continue to serve as CCO. She was previously COO of Swiss Life Private Equity Partners and held earlier roles at Bank Vontobel and Helbling.
US-based asset manager AEA Investors has appointed Adam Biren as Partner and Head of Capital Formation – Americas within its Investor Relations and Fundraising team. Based in New York, Biren will focus on capital formation and expanding the firm’s LP relationships. He joins from Apollo Global Management, where he led investor coverage in the US South and Southeast, and has previously held roles at Evercore, J.P. Morgan, Sandell Asset Management, ICV Partners, and Houlihan Lokey.
UK-based government agency Homes England has appointed Melanie Montanari as COO, effective September 7. Montanari joins from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, where she serves as Director of Housing Strategy and Markets.
Clayton Dubilier and Rice, a global private equity firm, has engaged John Chiminski as an Operating Advisor to its funds. Chiminski is the former Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Catalent, where he led the company through its IPO and transition to an independent public company. He also held earlier senior roles at GE Healthcare.
Antin Infrastructure Partners, a European infrastructure fund manager, has promoted Francisco Cabeza and Maximillian Lindner to Senior Partner. Cabeza previously held roles at Goldman Sachs, DWS Infrastructure, and ACS Iridium Infrastructure, while Lindner worked at Macquarie and Oakley Capital. Both are based in London.
Venture capital firm Singular has appointed Lara McGinnis as Partner in its London office. McGinnis brings nearly a decade of investing and operating experience across consumer technology, energy, and cybersecurity, with a focus on working with founders from formation through scale.
UK-based Impax Asset Management has appointed Andrew Morris as Co-Head of Private Equity Infrastructure. Morris joins from UBS Asset Management, where he was Head of Infrastructure Equity, and has held roles at Canada Pension Plan Investments, RREEF Infrastructure, and John Laing.
Cambridge Innovation Capital, a UK-based private equity and venture capital firm, has appointed Ilana Wisby as Entrepreneur in Residence within its deep tech team. Wisby joins after seven years leading quantum computing company OQC, and will focus on exploring commercial applications for quantum computing.
Charles Russell Speechlys has appointed James Paterson as Partner in its corporate practice in London. Joining from Mishcon de Reya, he advises founders, management teams, private equity sponsors, and investors on UK and cross-border private equity transactions.
DLA Piper has appointed André Teixeira as Partner in its finance practice in Washington, DC. Joining from White & Case, he advises sponsors, lenders, and investors on project finance, infrastructure, energy, and cross-border financing transactions.
Foley and Lardner has appointed James Bedotto as Partner in its finance practice in Dallas, and John Stern as Partner in its taxation practice in Boston. Bedotto joins from Kirkland and Ellis, where he advised on leveraged finance and acquisition financings. Stern, who joins from Goodwin, advises on the tax aspects of fund formation, M&A, and other strategic transactions.
Katten has appointed Josh Kaufman as Managing Partner of its new Miami office and Partner in its capital markets practice. Joining from DLA Piper, he advises high-growth companies on financing pathways, strategic development, and transformational transactions.
Kirkland & Ellis has appointed Anthony Mongone as Partner in its real estate practice Group in New York, and Maroussia Cuny as Partner in its debt finance practice in Paris. Mongone joins from Ropes & Gray, where he advised commercial real estate investors, mortgage REITs, and private debt funds. Cuny joins from White & Case, advising on leveraged finance and acquisition financings.
Latham & Watkins has appointed Erica Schohn as Partner in its executive compensation, employment, and benefits practice in New York. She joins from Skadden, where she advised on matters where executive compensation considerations are central to transaction structure.
Paul Hastings has appointed Peter Williams as Partner in its global finance practice in New York. He previously co-led Cahill Gordon & Reindel’s private credit practice.
Sidley Austin has appointed Andrew Baker as Partner in its capital markets practice in New York, Carl Hotton as Partner in its M&A and private equity practice in London, and Philip Hertz and Melissa Coakley as Partners in its global restructuring practice in London. Baker joins from Latham & Watkins, Hotton from DLA Piper, and Hertz and Coakley from Clifford Chance.
Willkie Farr & Gallagher has appointed Erica Temel as Partner in its asset management department in New York. Joining from Kirkland & Ellis, she advises sponsors on the formation, structuring, and operation of private investment funds.
Dechert has appointed Leahana Grimley as Partner in its corporate and securities practice in San Francisco. Frimley advises private equity sponsors and portfolio companies on leveraged and strategic acquisitions, divestures, joint ventures, restructurings, and incentive equity arrangements.
Global investment bank Evercore has appointed Eric Rabinowitz as Senior Managing Director in its Healthcare Investment Banking Group, based in New York. He joins from J.P. Morgan, where he served as Co-Head of Healthcare M&A.
Netherlands-based prime broker ABN AMRO Clearing has appointed Simon Dove as Global Head of Business Development and Execution. He brings more than two decades of experience across global financial markets, including proprietary trading, market making, and exchanges.
New York-based investment bank Ducera Partners has appointed Philip Youn as Managing Director in its M&A group. Youn will be based in New York and focus on advising clients on M&A mandates. He joins from Bank of America, where he was a senior banker in the M&A group and led its technology-enabled services M&A practice.
US-based fintech platform Allocate has appointed Matt Dunn as Chief Revenue Officer. He brings experience from PIMCO, Morgan Stanley, and Opto Investments He will help scale Allocate’s private markets infrastructure for wealth advisory firms and fund managers.
The US Federal Reserve has appointed Marc Andreessen, co-founder and general partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, as Co-Chair of its new Productivity and Jobs in an Era of Transformation task force. Serving alongside Microsoft executive Asha Sharma and Stanford economist Charles Jones, he will advise the Fed on the impact of AI and technological innovation on productivity, employment, and economic growth.
