Toha Network Limited

Based in Gisborne, New Zealand, and founded in 2017 by co-founders Shaun Hendy and Robert O'Brien, Toha Network Limited focuses on creating scalable, tradeable systems for environmental impact measurement and investment in a regenerative economy. The company facilitates funding for nature-based initiatives such as pest control, biodiversity monitoring, and waterway restoration. Toha Network Limited raised venture funding from investor Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation.   The core product of Toha Network Limited is the MAHI unit, a tradeable digital token that verifies actions undertaken for environmental improvement.

Contributors, such as farmers, environmentalists, and project leaders, execute specific projects like planting native seedlings, pest control, or waterway restoration based on predefined templates. After the completion of these projects, contributors submit verifiable data about the activities and outcomes to the Toha platform for validation. Additionally, MAHI units are traded for TOHA network tokens to access claims data on environmental outcomes, such as carbon sequestration or improvements in biodiversity. In addition to individual contributors, businesses, governments, and financial institutions buy outcome-based data that helps them meet regulatory or sustainability goals, such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) targets, carbon reduction, or biodiversity reporting.
